How to permanently delete your account and what happens to your data

You have the right to delete your JARI account at any time. This page explains the two ways to request deletion, what happens to your personal information once the request is processed, and which records we are required to keep. No reason or justification is required to make a request.

Before you continue

  • Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone.
  • You will be signed out on every device immediately, and your saved sessions will stop working.
  • Your activities, services, reports, advertisements and comments will no longer appear anywhere in JARI.
  • If you want to use JARI again later, you will need to register a new account from scratch. Nothing from the deleted account can be restored or transferred.

How to request deletion

Choose whichever option applies to you. Both lead to the same result — the first is immediate, the second is for users who can no longer sign in.

Option 1

Delete from inside the app

Fastest option — takes effect immediately.

If you can still sign in to the JARI app on your phone, you can delete your account yourself in a few taps:

  1. 1Open the JARI app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  2. 2Go to the Profile tab from the bottom navigation bar.
  3. 3Open Settings from your profile page.
  4. 4Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  5. 5Read the confirmation message and tap Confirm.

Your account is deactivated and your personal information is erased the moment you confirm. You will be returned to the login screen and will no longer be able to sign in with those credentials.

Option 2

Request deletion by email

For users who cannot access the app or sign in.

If you have uninstalled the app, lost access to your phone number, or cannot sign in for any other reason, send us a deletion request by email and we will process it for you:

  1. 1Send an email to admin@jarilife.com from any email address you can access.
  2. 2Use "Account deletion request" as the subject line.
  3. 3Include the email address or phone number registered on your JARI account, so we can locate it.
  4. 4Send the message and wait for our confirmation.

We process every deletion request we receive and confirm by email once it is complete, within 30 days of receiving it. We may first ask you to verify that the account belongs to you — this protects you from someone else deleting your account.

Open in your email app

If nothing opens when you tap the button, your device has no default email app set up. Copy the address above and send the request from any email account instead — it works exactly the same.

What happens to your data

The table below describes exactly what happens when a deletion request is processed. We have written it to match what our systems actually do, rather than in general terms.

Erased immediately and irreversibly

Overwritten in our database the moment the request is processed. This cannot be reversed by us or by you.

  • Your first name, last name and nickname
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number
  • Your profile picture
  • All active sign-in sessions and access tokens, on every device

Removed from JARI

No longer visible to you, to your neighbours, or to anyone else using the application.

  • Your public profile and its appearance in neighbourhood listings
  • Activities, services, advertisements and reports you published
  • Comments and interactions attached to your account
  • Your saved locations, favourites and connections with other users

Retained in anonymized form

These records no longer identify you — the personal details attached to them have already been erased in the step above. We keep them only where we are required or permitted to.

  • Anonymized records needed to prevent fraud, abuse and repeated violations of our Terms of Use
  • Records we are required to keep to comply with the law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims
  • Aggregated statistics that never contained personal information and cannot be traced back to any individual

Retention

There is no waiting period and no recovery window: the personal information listed above is overwritten at the moment your request is processed, not scheduled for later removal. What remains afterwards is anonymized and cannot be linked back to you.

Common questions

Can I recover my account after deleting it?

No. Deletion is permanent and takes effect immediately. If you want to use JARI again, you will need to create a new account.

Can I delete only some of my data instead of my whole account?

Yes. You can edit or remove individual activities, services, reports and saved locations from inside the app without deleting your account. Deleting your account is only necessary if you want to leave JARI entirely.

Does deleting the app from my phone delete my account?

No. Uninstalling the app only removes it from your device. Your account stays active until you delete it using one of the two options above.

Will my neighbours be notified that I deleted my account?

No. Nobody is notified. Your profile and content simply stop appearing in the application.
